Varicose Veins

The enlarged, swollen or twisted veins are considered as varicose veins. They often appear on thighs legs or ankles and are found purple or blue in color. Veins open to allow the blood to flow towards the heart and close to stop the blood from flowing backwards. The blood flows against the gravity towards the heart with the help of the valves in the legs. If there is any weakness or damage it might make the blood not function properly which therefore leads to the accumulation of blood in the veins which thereby leads to enlarging it and thus make them varicose.
